Avis Budget is a very frustrating company to deal with. I travel for work and pleasure a lot and this is by far my least favorite rental company. Firstly, for the most recent rental I stood outside in the winter for 45min because I cabbed to the location and the lone employee was out. Secondly, they charged me $75 ($50 repair and $25 "Admin fee" lol) for the tiniest rock chip which may or may not have been there before I got the car, it was so small I never would have noticed. All my years renting vehicles noone else does this. The worst part of it is I didn't get a receipt or invoice for it, it was charged to my CC a month later and my CC company flagged it and locked my card while I was traveling for work. When you call customer service they won't have a record of it, it's handled by a separate department which is why my CC got locked, customer service told me it's probably toll fees lol. Finally another couple weeks and I get the invoice in my mail, now I can call my CC company to unlock my CC after a month and a half. I thought I got a decent deal on a rental, in reality I paid the same amount as most other companies were asking at the time, except with a hell of a lot more headache. Personally I'm never renting from these guys again, there are other and better options. If you read other reviews for this company, you will see this is standard practice at this budget location and they do it to many of their customers, rent at your own risk.
Reserved a cargo van at the Dixie location, showed up and I was told my van was sent out for service. Drove to the other location and they would not honor the previous agreed terms.
Wonderful Experience! Flew in from Alberta and before i landed, i called and requested a particular car but the gentleman said "no guarantees upon arrival". When my brother and I came to pick up the rental, it was the car that we requested in white and i kid you not the guy put a cherry on top of our trip. I forgot his name but he was very very helpful, polite and good at customer service. Upon return, he was helpful with our luggage and took his time to chat about our plans on flying out e.t.c and wishing us safe trips. P.s I forgot your name but it was much appreciate by booth of us. Thanks for all your help.
Wonderful experience.. Got a van on rent in less than 10 minutes.. Took an appointment over phone an hour before visiting their office. The staff were very gentle and helpful.. They also gave me a new comer discount of around 40 cad.. There is a key drop facility available just outside their office if you are returning the car after business hours.. You missed the 5 star, bcos the van I rented was full of flies and driving was quite a task with literally hundreds of house flies buzzing around you inside the vehicle.. You need to take extra care on doing some pest control before renting out the vehicles to the customer.. Thanks..?
Great service, was in and out very quick when I was picking the truck up and dropping the truck off. Staff was very friendly as well. Their systems went down and they were still quick with everything.
I will never go back to this place. A few years back, they tried to get me to pay cash on the spot for some mark on the rear bumper that was there from before. When taking the car out, I even pointed out that mark and the guy said marks on the bumper like that are normal but on the way back when returning it was a different guy who had a different tone and told me I need to pay cash on the spot to settle or expect call from budget head office (I told him to let budget head office call me) If you are going to rent from this place, only rent during day light, make sure the vehicle is clean and not wet or dusty and take pictures of the whole exterior and tell them to write every single small scratch on the sheet before you sign.
Office guy was 1hour and 15minutes to late to open the location. Phoned 2 Budget phone numbers and none of them could solve the waiting problem. All we could do was waiting. After 1.15 hours we had to pay an extra $ 50 because the car we ordered could not be rented out because it was just returned and not checked. No free upgrade. Next time I will pass budget rental cars.
