Absolutely terrible experience! I called after work to find out if they had a car battery. I was told yes, given a price. I asked if they had availability to install that evening they said yes. Took my car in and spoke to the service rep who took my details and told me about 1hr and a half wait. So I told him Id walked to McDonalds to get my son something to eat. After about 1 hour I get a call and they rep said sorry they actually dont have the battery in stock. He claimed that he tried to callEarlier but there was no message left so . I was extremely annoyed after waiting so long for nothing! He could have physically checked the Inventory before sending me off, and he could have left a message if he had even called earlier. They didnt even offer me a coupon for my troubles! Ill go out of myWay to avoid Canadian tire for auto service. Try Walmart or speedy!
Disappointing. I was there today to buy a shopping buggy for my disabled, autistic sister. It needed assembly, so we asked the clerk working in the aisle if we could get it assembled. He said it wasn't something the store did. My sister said that the Canadian Tire up the road (Heartland) had no trouble assembling her last one, and so he said he would do it at the service desk. Good lad, but after waiting 15 minutes at the service desk, it became evident that a "manager" stepped in and made sure he did not do this. After our constant requests at the service desk to find out what happened, the sour manager finally appeared and decided to tell us not to wait any longer and to go away. Seems the young man had more sense and compassion than the manager. The young man probably got in trouble, and my sister and I struggled in the wind and rain to assemble the buggy in the parking lot. Whoever that manager was (short, grey haired guy with a mustache), you really need to be a better human being and try and live up to the compasionate corporate identity Canadian Tire tries to sell us.
A decent store for picking things up that are on sale (only if on sale, as CT prices are typically naturally higher than what you see elsewhere). 1 star because of the autoshop. Took my car here to get a safety certificate so I could sell it, and the car was perfect. He still failed it! Said one of the tires was bald (2 or less tread level). When I demanded he showed me (since I measured 5+ on all of them) it took him 10 minutes to find the tire with one spot that he found to be a 2. When I asked if I could use his tool to measure the tire he said no and that he couldnt pass the car because it was unsafe. Ridiculous!!! And they know you're in a rush to sell it so they can get away with anything here.
I have started shopping here even tho its a little farther from me after being tired of dealing with the poor service at CT Heartland. Staff here are much more friendly and generally helpful. Tho today (A red Thursdays promo day) they only had 1 person on customer service so I waited 15 minutes to pickup my order, maybe consider doing what the Collingwood store does and separate online order pickup and customer service, or just better staff your store. (incidentally 5 people, 2 of who seemed to be managers were chatting just by customer service and didn't notice the issue or care)
Great customer service! All employees and cashiers helpful, courteous and smiling...they know their stuff and are great. Keep up the good work. Pain your speed bumps and not too well signaled pkng lot...there is always room for improvement!
