I purchased a 2022 Toyota Corolla Hybrid from Pearson Car Sales Inc. for $28,499. After the purchase, I discovered that the fair market value of the vehicle was under $24,000, reflecting a substantial overcharge. More critically, the vehicle was sold with defective brakes, creating an immediate and serious safety hazard. I was also provided with a “Safety Standards Certificate” dated April 24, 2022, despite the vehicle being sold to me on April 20, 2024. This certificate was therefore outdated, invalid, and non-compliant with Ontario law, as a valid safety certificate must be issued at the time of sale. Furthermore, the vehicle was purchased by my brother-in-law based on the trust we placed in your dealership. That trust has proven misplaced due to the misrepresentation and fraudulent conduct surrounding this transaction. Following the sale, I obtained an independent safety inspection, which confirmed that the brake pads were defective at the time of sale and were never fixed in the 1st place. I also retain written communication from you (syed Ali) wherein, only a few days after the purchase, I reported abnormal noise in the vehicle. Your response was to advise me to continue driving and that you would “fix it later.” No such repairs were ever completed, despite the issue being raised immediately after the transaction. It is also relevant to note that Syed Ali was the individual who managed this sale, and based on the circumstances, I believe he is the owner of Pearson Car Sales Inc. rather than a mere employee. Your repeated reliance on an outdated safety certificate is misleading and unlawful. The safety inspection was conducted nearly two years prior to the date of sale, and no valid certificate was provided at the time of transfer. This constitutes a clear violation of Ontario’s motor vehicle safety standards and regulatory requirements. Despite my repeated efforts to resolve this matter directly, all attempts were met with outright refusal. This ongoing conduct raises significant concerns regarding your compliance with Ontario’s Consumer Protection Act and applicable vehicle safety regulations. In light of these facts, I am pursuing formal complaints with the relevant provincial authorities. I also strongly caution prospective buyers to exercise extreme care, independently verify all documentation, and ensure a valid safety inspection is in place before engaging in any transaction with Pearson Car Sales Inc.
