very educated people. i see some people writing inaccurate reviews. all tanks are VERY clean and everything fed well and taken care of. ive been visiting this store for over 20 years and have had a positive visit everytime.
The Shop was clean and looked well kept. I purchased a very healthy Motoro Stingray and it was packaged with oxygen for a lengthy travel. After a 4 hour trip the fish was lively and looked unstressed. The owner couldn’t have been more polite and helpful. Definitely going back! *Update* I went back to purchase a female Stingray as well..Great shop and again it was an awesome experience! Thanks
this place needs to be closed and reviewed immediately. fish are crammed in small and disgustingly dirty tanks, it’s totally inhumane. do not waste your money here and purchase fish/aquatics elsewhere.
The owner told me two fish can go together just to make $. My puffer fish got bit by the one he said can be paired with!! Within one night despite putting hideouts he got bit and almost died. Update. Fish did not last 2 days. Died.
I went in with my teen but didn't stay long. The aquarium sizes are not appropriate to the fish. One aquarium had a large fish that was just harassing a couple of smaller ones and there was zero-nothing else in the tank. Nowhere for the smaller fish to get/have a break from this. For the amount that was being charged for them, give them a better quality of life. We absolutely detest animal cruelty which includes poor living conditions.
About a year ago, I bought 5 fish labeled as "Siamese Algae Eaters" but they were actually the flying fox. I even asked the employee there to make sure it was the true SAE because I never kept them before. That's not the worst part, 3 of them died within two weeks. Recently I gave that store another try. I bought 5 white cloud minnows because Big Al's next door were sold out and 2 of them died within two days... I know I acclimated them correctly because I've been doing it the same way for years with 100% success with other stores. I didn't want to take the time and effort to go back for refund because the fish were not very expensive. I will save myself some time and trouble and shop at Big Al's next time.
This place should be shut down for the way they treat their fish and turtles. Big fish crammed into tiny aquariums, sick, injured and blind fish, turtles without adequate basking space. This is the only store I have seen dead turtles floating around the tanks. Some of the staff are helpful, while others will tell you anything to convince you to spend more money buying fish. They do have a great selection of rarer fish, but nothing you can't order at Big Al's. Their prices aren't that great either, pretty much the same as other stores in the area, or more expensive.
I love discount dragon, really great fish store. Good prices on everything & the live stock is amazing. Love seeing all the big fish they carry. I have boughten a few fish from them as well, never an issue.
Great store, have been dealing with Andrew and he has given me some awesome advice on how to keep my saltwater alive and it has been doing great. Best selection of designer clown fish in the GTA. Got my Gold Nugget Maroon Clown from there and he is awesome. Never had any trouble with their live stock, you just need to make sure you know what you are buying and ask questions.
A level of trust is needed as they are small scale compared to their neighbors. They are very nice ppl. You can msg them thru Facebook and they respond which is super convenient.
