I was recently scheduled for prostate surgery, and my doctor referred me to Elevation for pelvic floor physio. He said best to start the process beforehand, or prehab as he called it. I suggested I would just go to somewhere a little closer to home, but my doctor insisted that Lynda was the expert in this field. He could not have been more correct. Lynda is a perfect mix of friendly and direct. If you are uncomfortable talking with a woman you've never met before about things like incontinence and ED, she gives you no choice but to get over it. I faithfully followed her instructions for 3 months, then resumed a week after catheter removal. The first couple weeks were depressing, thinking these side effects could go on for months. I was worried about returning to work still dealing with leaking. After a couple weeks I started to improve, and was surprised that each day was noticeably better. By 7 weeks most of the side effects had resolved. What a relief. Now at just over 2 months post surgery, I'm back at work and 90% back to "normal". I know that this is my personal journey, and everyone heals differently. Your results may vary. So if you end up going to Elevation, consider yourself lucky. Lynda truly is an expert in exactly what we need. Listen to what she's explaining, follow her direction precisely, and you also may be amazed at how far you progress. It was a pleasure talking with Lynda at each visit, and getting in better all round shape. Thanks Lynda!
My physiotherapist Joelle is one of a kind in her field. She gave so many examples of how I could improve my pelvic health despite the challenges I have been experiencing for awhile now. She's also a wonderful person to talk too as well. Being someone with constant stress in my life, I occasionally come in trauma dumping and Joelle takes it with the uttermost sensitivity and empathy. She's taken me in for not only problems with my pelvic floor but even on a short notice when my back went out. My symptoms has improved DRASTICALLY with her advice and techniques. She will do the techniques with you as well to make sure you're doing it accurately. Joelle is a physiotherapist so full of knowledge, she goes beyond just answering my questions and concerns. She also explains in great detail how you pelvic floor works (and what could potentially be happening to my back when I had pain that I could barely walk.) When it comes to physio I got really fortunate to get one of the best - Joelle. The staff are also really kind and patient with me and my crazy schedule (and multiple times I had to reschedule). Couldn't ask for better care than here at Elevation physiotherapy. Thank you guys!!
I saw Joelle for pelvic physio end of my second trimester, right up to almost delivery. She is wonderful at her job and helped me tremendously with my pelvic pain. She also helped me with coping mechanisms for during contractions. She is very pleasant to talk to as well and immediately puts you at ease when you meet her.
My experiences with Elevation Physiotherapy & Wellness (abbrev. to EPW) is moderate. I've been actively doing martial arts and gymnastics for 30+ years. In march of 2021, after a bad landing from a somersault, I injured my right leg. I've experienced similar injuries before and they usually heal on their own after 3 weeks. But this time, it didn't heal after 4 months. And it got worse overtime, because I experienced new symptoms I never experienced before, which was the foot going numb and eventually feelings of knife stabbing through my toes. These symptoms are noticeable after 5 minutes of walking. Over the course of the next 9 months, I sought help from 8 different healthcare workers (doctors, physio, massage, medical specialists). I did a few scans (one was X ray, and I forget the name of hte other...CT or ultrasound?). No one found what's wrong with me. Next, my family doctor scheduled an MRI for my leg and back, but it would be 6 months away. In the meantime, Someone suggested I see EPW - By this point, I already lost hope. But I tried anyway. At EPW, the person I worked with suggested that my leg problems were most likely the result of a lower back problem because of how much time I spend sitting and working in a front of a computer. I was highly skeptical of this because I never experienced any discomfort in my back. She assured me that back problems can happen spontaneously and cause my leg issues. Despite my skepticism, I went along with her ideas. The EPW worker started with a physical exam, but through out the whole time, it felt like the she was "letting her conclusions dictate her observations" instead of "letting her observations deduce conclusions." I remember one exam where she said she will push on my injured leg, and I must resist. I was caught off gaurd by how strong she was, so I didn't resist hard enough, and my leg collapsed under her pressure. She then went to my healthy leg, and repeated teh same experiment, but this time I was prepared to resist harder because now I know how strong she is, and this time my leg did not collapse. Her conclusion was, "See, your injured right leg is weaker than your healthy left leg, this is how we know you have a back problem." I'm not an assertive person, so I didn't debate her. I thought she would know best, and she will do other tests to confirm or deny her conclusions. But other experiments always felt like she was convinced it was the back, and was looking for data to support her conclusion...like an archer who shoots an arrow at a random wall, then paints the target aroudn the arrow and says, "Voila! I hit the bullseye". We did 4 to 5 consults together, all were focused on the back, and I was given exercises like mackenzie push ups, new sitting postures etc... None of them were effective. And because I don't have health insurance, I didn't feel comfortable spending money on an approach that showed zero results. So I discontinued working with EPW. By the 18th month of my injury, and after seeing 4 more professionals, no one was able to help, so I accepted the reality this will probably be a life long injury. And if that's the case, I might as well return to combat and gymnastics...it's what ive' always known and I might as well die doing what I dedicated my life too. I returned to all the somersaults, sparring, etc... I even increased the intensity beyond my normal routines to punish my own body for being weak. The pain in my leg increased in the 19th month and 20th month. But to my surprise and relief, between months 21 and 24, the pain slowly went away. I have no idea what happened, but as of today, my leg is almost fully recovered. I got my MRI results. My family doctor and a neurologist said my lower back is healthy. The neurologist was especially surprised when he said, "Wow, look a how healthy your lower back is". My case was difficult, all 12 healthcare workers I worked with did not have answers. Ultimately, I returned to my sports, worked through the pain, and prayed the body would fix itself or I die trying.
Lynda has looked after my back 5 years ago and successfully brought me back to normal functioning. Recently I had a relapse. I went back to Elevation therapy and After 2 sessions and following her exercise program I am happy to say that I am mobile again without a cane or walker. Follow the exercises and don’t stop. Thank you Lynda.
10 plus years ago, I had major knee surgery. I went to see Lynda McClatchie of Elevation Physiotherapy & Wellness. Lynda was GREAT. Personable, understanding and passionate about getting my knee to full range of motion. Lynda was more excited about it than I was, it would seem. I travelled this weekend, did the exercised as outlined and this was the first time in years that my knee was no mobile (not stiff) especially after being on a plane. Thanks Lynda, I am excited for more great results.
Following a surgery that required Pelvic Floor Physiotherapy, I was introduced to Lynda and the Elevation Team in December of 2020 by Dr. Andrew Feifer and the wonderful Julie from his office. Lynda and her team were amazing! Lynda set up the program, explaining what I needed to do, establishing goals and expected outcomes. She was on point, professional and positive. A great experience! Bravo Elevation!!
