You get what you pay for. We used sooch law firm for the closing of our home. I suggest anyone using Sooch Law Firm to calculate the numbers to ensure it all adds up as things were easily missed. Things like property tax certificates were not requested from the town to ensure the old owners paid their property taxes. When we were slapped with a bill of over $3000 for past payments I asked sooch law firm why they had it in our adjustments sheet that they paid $xxxx and the firm said they just go by an honour system so whatever the old owner says they paid goes. Because the old owners said they OVERPAID property taxes we ended up paying them back over $500. Not only was I out for the property taxes they missed but also out the $500. Long story short it took three weeks to get this resolved where they said they reached out to the old owners lawyers with no reply. We ended up dealing with it ourselves and contacted the old owners who advised no one brought this to their attention. At this point I’m not sure if they were even looking into the matter as they just recommended title insurance.
