I highly recommend this store for Indian groceries, particularly South Indian specialties. They also carry a variety of A2B snacks and non-vegetarian options like chicken, mutton, and fishes. Conveniently located on Derry Street, the friendly staff are always willing to help you find what you need. One area for improvement is the store's layout, as the aisles are quite narrow and can only accommodate one person at a time. Hopefully, they'll consider renovating to create more space for customers. Overall, I had a great experience and will definitely return. Best wishes to the store
Katpakam Grocery is my go-to store for Tamil groceries. They consistently have everything I need for my home. The staff is always kind and helpful, making every visit a pleasant experience. Highly recommend this store for anyone looking for quality Tamil groceries and excellent service!
Rude customer service I had a really bad time at this shop - fish section. I kindly asked if I could get fish from the freezer instead of the display, but the response I received was unexpected. The staff raised their voice, literally shouted and insisted I could only choose from the display. It seemed like there was some ego involved.I left the shop feeling disappointed. It's unfortunate to see such customer service, and I hope they can improve for the sake of their business.
Prices are all marked up . 45$ for a bag of idly rice I understand it is due to ban . But near by store thiara was offering it for 22$ for same weight on same day same time . Just different brand . What in the world with this store always marked up prices than other stores When asked about this, owner said supplier rate , margin, demand etc . I want to meet that expensive supplier who supplies only for this store at this rate . Store has to realize that it is okay to take profit but this is literally looting people's money
The shelves are stocked well. However, as you walk into the store you are greeted with a blast of stale air. Understandably during winter months there is a concern for ventilation, but would be nice to have some air circulating through and out to prevent this. Also the aisles are narrow. Again, understandable with the variety of products made available. If it wasn’t for the stale air that made you want to get out of there as fast as possible I’d have given it his place an extra star.
Decent place to buy South Asian grocery items. Store is little cramped. Debit or credit cards are accepted only if the billing amount is $15+ else they charge extra percentage fee. Good options of seafood and items.
Place has unique brands and items. They don’t have tons of collections but some srilankan, some Indian collection. Narasus Udayam filter coffee wasn’t found anywhere but this place had it. I called before I went here and they checked, confirmed that they had the item. I really liked that they didn’t just say yes for the sake of answering. I did mention to them that their store had unique items and they were courteous. The only problem I had with this place was, the place is really really tiny. Tiny means only one person can pass through the lane. You got to wait for the person to finish their shopping and then you can move to that lane. You cannot take your kids for sure. Also, I could not find everything so I had go to other Indian place for shopping. Small business people, so I encourage people to give a try! Who knows you may find an item that you could not find in other stores!
