I never make reviews but definitely had to for this place. This just happened today, my mom and I had a pretty bad experience at this location. We went to the cosmetics section to pick up a few things and the worker that was “monitoring” the area (was on her phone before hand) kept following us no matter which aisle we went to. Keep in mind there were other people there and she was following us (people of colour) for awhile. The way she hawked us down was completely unnecessary. It came across as stereotyping and discriminatory especially because WE WEREN’T DOING ANYTHING but shopping like everyone else. We spoke to customer service about this so hopefully it will be dealt with. I recommend going to Shoppers or Sephora instead LMAO. No one should feel uncomfortable when trying to shop for themselves. (I would give this a zero if I could. Based on other reviews it seems like this happens often.)
The staff in the store are wonderful... However, they are told to push the Walmart MasterCard, which is a complete scam. From the moment that I received it, I had nothing but problems. To make matters worse, the Walmart MasterCard Customer Service line is atrocious. Completely disrespectful and rude. It's extremely disappointing and has made me question, why I would shop at Walmart. Smarten up Walmart Canada!!
First, every time I walk into Walmart, I only see brown-skinned employees. At first, I thought it was fine because they seemed to be everywhere. But then, when they opened a branch in my neighborhood, I still only saw brown-skinned employees. Is there corruption in the hiring process? Do they only select people with the same skin color? Second, Budak noodles (pink package) are always out of stock. I spoke to one employee who admitted that whenever they arrive, he keeps two packs for himself. No wonder I never have a chance to buy them. The manager clearly lacks proper oversight, and the store is not large enough for shortages like this to go unnoticed. Entire product categories also disappear from the shelves—I bought them before but haven’t seen them again. Head office should pay attention. With better effort, these problems could be fixed. Finally, it is strange that I have not seen a single employee who isn’t brown-skinned, even though this neighborhood has many white and Asian residents. Why are there no local part-time students or other workers represented? It gives the impression that Walmart is practicing discriminatory hiring at this location.
If I could give zero stars, I would. This was one of the worst shopping experiences I’ve had. I purchased 10 zucchini by weight, but the cashier charged me for 10 cucumbers!. I didn’t realize until I got home, and when I called Walmart I was waiting nearly 20 minutes. When someone finally answered, all they told me was to drive half an hour back to fix their mistake. The next day I returned with the receipt and a photo. I asked for a manager, an assistant manager came. Instead of simply fixing the error, they refunded me and then had an employee re-weigh 10 zucchini and charge me again. This ended up costing me more because the zucchini they chose were bigger and heavier. After wasting my time, the “compensation” I received was basically being overcharged again. This is not how you treat customers. Between the cashier’s mistake, the long wait on the phone, the lack of accountability, and the ridiculous resolution, I will think twice before ever shopping here again.
Really nice store. Clean and organized. Good customer service as well. However, from the second day they opened that store. The prices are not ringing in the same at the register. This is the 5th time this has happened at this Walmart. The customer service does refund you but everyone please check your receipts before leaving.
So they have improved lots. My pickups are easy and fast and so far all items have had no issues. Their baked chicken is well done and tasty, would highly recommend you trying it. It is under $10
bsolutely unacceptable and unprofessional behavior from multiple staff and managers tonight. I came in to purchase a futon, had made arrangements with someone after hours, and was met with some of the most disrespectful treatment I’ve ever experienced. One manager literally put his hand in my face and walked away mid-conversation. Another pointed in my face while talking down to me. Then a staff member tried to tell me what I could and couldn’t record in a public space — despite the fact that I was simply trying to document the situation due to how poorly I was being treated. If a worker is acting out of line, it’s not only my right but my responsibility to report it appropriately. Let me be clear: what your staff chooses to do outside of work hours (like helping move something) is none of your business, and stepping in to interfere with that while being rude and dismissive shows a complete lack of leadership. I left with nothing after being talked down to, dismissed, and treated like a problem. This is not how any customer should be treated. Train your staff better and stop using intimidation or disrespect as your first response to simple situations.
