Dr Chen, Mina and their son Charles are amazing at what they do! I went to them after seeing little progress in healing 2 months after a hand injury that left me unable to perform basic tasks like using a spoon or buttoning my shirt. My hand was dark with very bad circulation and I could not bend my fingers. Working with them has restored the use of my dominant hand improved circulation a ton and allowed me to work again. I've gone back twice now and feel a sense of relaxation and relief from tinnitus and migraines that no western doctor could help me with without taking otc medication. I look forward to continuing my treatment with Dr. Chen. Both Dr. Chen and his wife Mina, the receptionist, seem genuinely caring and empathetic. They have been easy to communicate with and transparent.
Dr. Chen is highly skilled and knowledgeable doctor in acupuncture and Chinese medicine. My husband was diagnosed Parkinson Disease last year, He only could walk short distance, feeling cold and had anxiety. He could not drive a car. After Dr. Chen has treated my husband disease three mouth, my husband has a bigger improvement. He can walk long distance, He can drive a car. This is an HONEST review of my experience and a WARNING to others. RED FLAGS FROM BEGINNING TO END. Problem #1: TREATMENTS MADE ME WORSE I came in with complex health issues—immune and nervous system dysfunction, dysautonomia—but the doctor quickly dismissed it all as “poor circulation” after a 3-second pulse check. He immediately pushed acupuncture and herbs. After just ONE session, I developed SEVERE INSOMNIA and HEIGHTENED ANXIETY—symptoms I didn’t have before. When I reported this, both the doctor and his receptionist (his wife, Mina) laughed it off and blamed me, saying “it’s just your anxiety” and “acupuncture can’t do that.” A quick Google search shows MANY people experience adverse effects, yet I was blamed, dismissed, and gaslit. I had done acupuncture in Asia before and NEVER reacted like this. But I kept coming back, hoping things would improve—7-8 sessions total. Every time, the same thing happened: insomnia, anxiety, worsened symptoms. I now have chronic sleep issues I didn’t have before. The acupuncture was painful—especially on my temples, face, and scalp—causing visible bumps, bleeding, muscle twitching, and more insomnia. The herbal medicine made my gut worse—daily bloating and gas. When I asked for an ingredient list (because I have allergies), they REFUSED at first. Mina just kept saying “no one has reacted badly before.” It took 3 weeks of asking before I finally got a list—AFTER I had already ingested it for weeks. This is UNETHICAL and possibly ILLEGAL. Patients have the RIGHT to know what they’re taking. I spent over $1000 here and left in a much worse state. Problem #2: Mina – Receptionist / Wife of Doctor – GASLIGHTING, BELITTLING, and DECEPTIVE CONDUCT I’ve NEVER encountered someone so manipulative, mocking, and unprofessional. Mina also inserted needles into my head (she is NOT licensed), causing pain, bleeding, and insomnia. From the start, she constantly BLAMED ME for the adverse effects of their treatments, as if it was my fault for reacting. Blaming the victim while taking their money—classic gaslighting. But the BIGGEST RED FLAG was Mina’s repeated refusal to provide accurate receipts for the amount I ACTUALLY PAID. Every time I paid by e-transfer, she would later email a receipt showing only partial amounts—e.g., I paid $192, but she’d only report $70. The herbal medicine ($150–$200 each time) was never included. This happened EVERY SINGLE TIME. When I asked her to correct it, she would make excuses or act angry. This is blatant TAX EVASION behavior. At my final visit, I requested corrected receipts for the past 3 weeks (she omitted the herbs which is 80% of the total amount paid). Most people just pay out of pocket or their insurance doesn't cover so she doesn't issue receipts, MINE DOES cover 100% as I told her many times and she kept dismissing this even. To get around this, she would belittlee me, asking, “Can’t you AFFORD this without insurance?” and “Then maybe go somewhere else.” That’s straight up bullying. Why should I pay out of pocket when my insurance covers so that YOU CAN COMMIT TAX EVASION and not issue me receipts. When I confronted her to break down the random charges she gave me, the prices DIDN'T MATCH THE CLINIC'S PRICE LIST. Her cover was blown, and she basically GOT SUPER ANGRY AND YELLED AT ME, told me to get out and threatened to NOT GIVE ME MY RECEIPTs. There were 3 witnesses present so this is not made up. I STOOD MY GROUND. I told her I am legally entitled to a receipt for the amount I paid, then kept making excuses that she suddenly didn't know how to use the receipt software (after doing this for 30 years). I waited nearly 1 hour before she finally handed me sketchy, unregistered-looking receipts (a different look than the usual) clearly done that way so she doesn't use it and can avoid declaring the payment. I went to this clinic hoping for healing and came out with more emotional and physical DAMAGE AND DISTRESS. Mina’s behavior is manipulative, unethical, and borderline abusive and unacceptable. The positive reviews are probably manipulated.
Dr. Chen has helped us with a kidney problem over the past year. As western medicine has limited options to support the kidney in our case, we turned to holistic methods including seeing Dr. Chen for TCM/acupuncture. Imaging studies and blood work/kidney function have improved significantly, to even our Western Medicine physician’s surprise. We are very grateful to Dr. Chen, Mina and the whole team for their dedicated service and compassionate care.
UNLICENSED STAFF PROVIDING TREATMENT TO PATIENTS. I was treated by their staff (receptionist Mina), for acupuncture and was not told she has no sort of licence to give treatment. She treated me for whole body and head which was left really sore after the treatment. I was refused to be booked for a follow up appointment after such bad condition due to herbal medicine given to me by Dr.Chen. They have over charged for for my initial visit and as an initial patient I was told to go elsewhere when inquiring regarding being charged so much. I was booked for follow up after 4 days of taking herbal medicine, I was taken out from their system to be seen by doctor. The herbal medicine left me very dizzy for few days. Upon asking why my visit is cancelled, I was told to come next week. Not sure how this unprofessional facility still operates but due to their treatment, I am going through a lot of health issues. Very bad service given by Mina. Upon asking her if she is licensed to have given treatment to me, she wanted to me to leave the facility and said she is the Receptionist. I have reported this facility to CTCMPAO. WOULD NEVER EVER RECOMMEND ANYONE TO THIS FRAUDULENT FACILITY.
