I adopted a cat about a week ago, she is sick and had to go to the vet. I have been trying to get in touch with abbey cats to get her previous health records and have been ghosted. They do not care about the health of these cats.

It's the one year anniversary of my adoption through Abbey Cats, so I thought I'd give them a thoughtful review. If you're wondering if you should adopt a rescue but are feeling nervous about the outcome, definitely get in touch with Abbey (and- as an experienced cat owner- I highly recommend looking into a senior, if your circumstances allow for it... they make the absolute best, sweetest friends) I'm really impressed with the care and professionalism they showed throughout the process of adopting our little guy. It was reassuring to know how thoroughly they vet applicants, because there are so many poor candidates out there- on a scale of well-meaning-but-ill-prepared to downright despicable- who are trying to get access to animals; I think Abbey Cat's system screens for that as best as can be asked for. They clearly take care in screening their foster parents, too. My kitty came to me in excellent health and was very well loved by his foster mum. My vet remarked to me that he was not only in beautiful condition physically, but based on his behaviour, he had been treated with nothing but gentleness by his previous caregiver. He's extremely sweet with my partner and I, our other cats, and everyone who comes to visit- even overly enthusiastic toddlers. He plays fetch with craft pompoms and howls with murderous ecstasy when he catches them. He sleeps by our feet every night. He follows me from room to room, politely involving himself in everything I do. He grew one long, super curly whisker (see third photo- it grew twice as long in the end). 10/10 cat, 10/10 experience ?

I adopted my sweet girl Mystery from Abbey Cat Adoptions when she was just seven months old. She lived to be 19 and had a beautiful life filled with love. I am so thankful to Abbey Cat Adoptions for sending me my angel.

Super attentive and responsive, they clearly have the animals’ best interests at heart. Eager to help you find your (or your son’s!) new feline friend(s)!

I recently adopted my forever fur baby Oscar. I found them to be very diligent on finding the right home. I am happy the standards they have and ty for my perfect fit Oscar ❤️

They say they don't want to over vaccinate the cats in their care, but they didn't have actual proof about this to back it up. They did not give my cat his rabies vaccine (and he was being fostered in Toronto where the by-law there was all cats and dogs had to have the rabies vaccine). They charged me a $175 adoption fee but did zero vaccines and no snap test. I did the vaccines which cost me close to $300 plus the snap test, which came back positive for FeLV. I ended up paying $800 for snap tests over a 4 month period to make sure it had passed from his system because the vet thinks he was recently exposed to it (probably from the kitten in the same foster home). Would NOT recommend them to anyone looking to adopt.

I'd like to thank everyone at Abbey Cat Adoptions, you are all very special people, super caring, giving and do so much to save lives. You make this world a better place. Abbey Cat Adoptions seamlessly guided me through the adoption process for my new furry baby "Beau" (formerly named Brophy). I highly recommend Abbey Cat Adoptions. They provide much knowledge, advice and great tips!... I was very impressed with this organization of wonderful people that I'm thinking of volunteering for them in the near future.

Hannah, are you sure that you adopted your cat through us? We have no record of an adoption application from you, nor any communication received... if we had, we'd have been in touch...

Thanks so much for the review. Not everybody is happy with our "pickiness" but it comes from a good place.
