Always a pleasure and joyous moment to visit here! The store always has the LPs I'm looking for, and sometimes even more then what I initially expected to encounter. The staff were also friendly and helpful when looking for particular items. The store is always so organized and have very eye-catching displays of the latest releases. Truly an ideal place to visit when in searching or just browsing physical media!
my kpop album was damaged, the staff were very friendly but when i opened the box the photo cards were scratched and dirty, the album looked crushed in the edges and the envelope was tore, i would definitely want a refund and most likely will get one soon , other than that it is a great place to shop at
The two gentlemen working today were very friendly and knowledgeable. Very happy to support physical media and my purchase of lotr on blue ray. Inquiring me if I was good with the theatrical cut of the film. Thank you again, the selection of movies was great and will make more purchases in the future. But more physical media everyone before it is too late.
I bought two vinyls (Olivia Rodrigo and Taylor Swift) as part of a 2 for $70 deal from Sunrise Erin Mills Town Centre on Dec 20/24. After opening and trying them out on Dec 30th, I noticed that both were visibly warped after playing them on my turntable, so much so that one of the tracks even skips. Not that I’m a big collector, but I own about 200 vinyls bought in the late 80s. I checked a few of my old collection and they are perfectly flat. I even checked two other vinyls bought in 2024 from other sellers and they were perfectly flat too. I went back to the store on Dec 31st to exchange or return them… there was only one Rodrigo vinyl left but after asking the store rep Paul (nice and very informative), to open and play it on their turntable, it too was visibly warped. I asked for a refund but unfortunately they have this policy where if a product is opened, even if defective or poorly made, there is no refund option and that I could take it up with Sunrise customer service via email (or the manufacturer after 45 days). Imagine opening up a product to find it in this condition, only for the seller to say it’s out of their hands (except for the customer’s money). I asked if they could check another store to see if it was in stock but only one of the artists was and unfortunately they couldn’t ship the item from this location; I’d have to personally go there and possibly find another warped vinyl. Paul and another store rep explained to me that it’s common that some of these companies are international (France, Czechia, Mexico - as with at least one of the vinyls I bought here) who press vinyl for hot/popular artists do them in such a way that sadly quality can be an issue bc they have to quickly meet big demand. They also explained warped vinyl could also occur during transportation, and that the issue could be exacerbated using portable turntables like Crossley. My thing is that Sunrise SELLS these products and if they won’t stand by them knowing these issues, why sell even them, leaving the customer in the lurch? This specific situation represents both a very poor customer service policy and experience. So after all the time and effort, I left the store on NYE empty handed only to take more time and effort to email Sunrise customer service team in hopes for a refund. In the future I’ll only buy from a seller like Amazon or Winners that would have no issue in providing a refund in such a situation. Note: the Sunrise store does indicate their refund and exchange policy on the counter but as I was on the other side of the register when I made the purchase, it obviously wasn’t visible to me. *UPDATE Jan 13/25 - Sunrise customer service thankfully agreed to offer a refund with no additional questions or fuss. I adjusted my star rating as a result.
Sunrise is a great store to rummage around and see what is available for movies, music or swag from your favourite performer. They have a small but solid offering of many genres of music in various formats. I'm glad Sunrise is still around, carrying on the tradition of physical media. With streaming becoming more selective on what they offer Sunrise is in a perfect position to fill the gaps and cater to those who never have up on physical media.
What can I say? Sunrise is back. Streaming is fine, but nothing will beat owning physical copies of your movies, music, etc. Go, now, help keep these types of stores in business!
A classic store that's a pleasure to actually walk around in. It has tons of new DVDs from yesterday years. A lot of toys and shirts and even vinyl records! A refreshing change from online shopping, I truly enjoyed the slow window shopping experience that brought me back to the 90's.
