I purchased two cases of Erie Meats (Watson Ridge) Buttermilk Chicken, and the experience was nothing short of appalling. The product was practically inedible. The chicken had the unmistakable taste of old fowl—stale, rubbery, and absolutely off-putting. The texture was closer to processed sponge than actual chicken, and the smell was so unnervingly artificial and unpleasant that it raised immediate concerns about freshness and quality control. This wasn’t a minor quality issue. This was a total product failure. What made the situation even worse was the customer service—or rather, the complete lack of it. I contacted head office to request a refund, was told to leave my contact information, and was assured someone would follow up. Three weeks later, nothing. No call. No email. No acknowledgment. Nothing. For a company selling food products meant for families, this level of negligence is unacceptable. Ignoring a customer after selling them two cases of unusable product isn’t just bad service—it’s disrespectful. If this is how Erie Meats handles serious quality concerns, customers deserve to know. Absolutely unacceptable and a disgusting way to treat customers.
We bought this yesterday because it looked good. I prepared it according to the directions, tossed it wing sauce and put in a wrap with blue cheese dressing and old cheddar. Took my first bite and could not bite through the piece of chicken. It was like someone put a piece of rubber dishwashing glove in the chicken. Couldn't even cut it with a knife. My family was so disgusted our meals went into the garbage. No email address for Customer Service on their website, and call go to voicemail.
DO NOT BUY. I have contacted this company multiple times with no response. I go through by phone and they told me to email for my complaint. No surprise, they did not answer. I recently bought the buttermilk chicken tenders ($10 a bag), they used to be delicious. Now, they were rubbery and completely inedible. I could barely cut through the chicken piece. PSA: the chicken bites from Costco that are high protein and very popular right now, come from THIS COMPANY. I am staying far away from anything made by this company. It’s almost like they are using “good meat” for Costco products and scraps for products sold at Loblaws.
First time buying their products and it will the last time, very disappointed. Found a piece of blue plastic inside of my chicken strips not sure how many I had eaten, the food safety and quality are very concerning, l sent email to their customer service teams receiving no feedback at all!
Extremely low grade products. When you are at the grocery store buying meat. If it says Erie Meat Products on the packaging. Put it down walk away. You do not want to eat this product.
Not sure why this company is still in business. Besides their shady manager compensation plans (making them get paid through a corporation, hence being subject to personal AND corporate tax come tax time, while the corporation gets to enjoy tax savings :) on the expense of hard working employees) the products suck as much as the company does. Reviews speak for themselves. Stay away. Disgusting leadership.
Your "Jumbo Chicken Breast Bites," purchased at Costco, were awful: Too much breading, and the breast was hit and miss in terms of pure meat. Not worth it, even though they were on sale.
