This was my experience and the quality was good, but not great. Also, items were pricey, which is obviously the pass down of the courier costs. I would make return trips to satisfy cravings of savories, but obviously spacing between them due to the above mentioned details. The experience of the sale was al altogether different matter. The hostess was very pleasant and a pleasure to interact with.
This is a sketchy business, to say the least. A woman runs this out of her living room that is stacked with food products along the walls, on the floor, with no concern towards food safety. Her sources are ambiguous (I suspect she just picks up the products on her trips to India) and all her products have the expiration dates scratched off. I am not sure she has a license to operate this business, either under Canadian Law or under the brand name of the Grand Sweets and Snacks of India. What is more, her prices are daylight robbery. A bottle of pickle that normally costs $4-5 in an Indian grocery store costs $15-17. No prices are marked and no bill is prepared. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I bought two boxes of coconut burfis. These were expensive, for $15 each. In spite of keeping them in the fridge, one of the boxes went bad within a day. Typically coconut burfis doesn't go bad so quickly. Everything is expensive, but the life of the items is a big question. Also, the way the items are stored in the seller's house is not very storage friendly. The house is cooped with so many items in the heat (should be stored in a cool and dry place), most of them kept outside. There's no guarantee that these are going to last the next day of purchase. I bought some savouries, so far they have been good and the taste is good as well. Having eaten grand sweets food most of my life in chennai, I found the overall purchase sub par.
Items taste is good but the price is high. 14$ just for small box of sweets and 12$ for some snacks. If you really want to grow your business please make the prices reasonable
I was craving for South Indian Sweets and Pickles…and I finally find the right place…It’s the real Grand sweets and original Krishna sweets that I tasted in Chennai… it will be one of the place in my “to go list” when I visit Ontario again…
Snacks from here were old i guess. Me and my family all of us felt dizzy and nauseous after eating them. My kid threw up. Recommend to buy only if there is expiry date.
The address is not for a store, it's a residential area and when we knock on the house no one answers nor do they answer the phone. I am not sure if it a an actual place of business
