Ordered Halibut and Haddock fish & chip. Halibut was chewy and tasted like it fought gravity for centuries (compressed). Both fish tasted like old frozen dishes and mostly on the dry side. The tartar was essential mayo with some bits, fries were bland, calamari was a small portion for $12.99....totally $63~ rather expensive for what was offered The fries were so bland that even my daughter who's addicted to it only ate one piece....
If there was anymore rating than 5 stars, I would definitely give this place as this has become our ritual place for Fish & chips which by the way is the BEST fish & chips you can get in GTA! Very very Tasty and portions are nice and big and prices are good. Authentic London Style Fish & Chips that is flavourful and totally fulfilling. Very friendly staff and this is the only Fish & Chips Place that is open 7 days in GTA and mostly open till 9pm and also serves breakfast. And I tried their Fish Tacos today
Worst customer service - kept waiting waiting to be be served but the server just kept passing infront of me without taking the order and it was not busy as well around 4pm Had to leave without any food Thanks for your reply The main reason I put the time was for the owner to have a look at the camera. It was from 4pm -4.12pm. Two chaps in the kitchen and 1 server no one gave a heed at all. Anyways all the best thank you for looking into it .
I was having the most amazing service today at Halibut House until I went to ask for a refill of my Decaf coffee and was told I would need to pay a fee for my second cup of decaf coffee as Decaf coffee doesn’t have Free Refills and I feel as if I was discriminated against because I am Pregnant and wanted a coffee without the Caffeine because it’s in the best interest of my Pregnancy.Also a fee for a refill shouldn’t be the full amount if you are requiring someone to pay for something that pretty much any other breakfast place gives free refills on.Also I feel as if they should write that somewhere on the menu and you shouldn’t be told after you have ordered your first and you feel stupid and compelled to get it after you’ve already asked for a refill.?I don’t blame the server as she was excellent at making sure everything was perfect for my brother and I and the food was delicious.
Great fish and chips in the area and always consistently good. I like to go Sundays they have their special for haddock and chips at 13.99$ and honestly the portion is great for the price you can't go wrong. The fish is always tasty and their fries are good too. It's gotten even better than the first visit, see my more recent photo! Big change.
Had halibut and haddock fish and chips. Tastes good, but as a Muslim, I shouldn't eat there due to cross contamination. Even though the lady said there were no shared fryers or utensils, I later found out they use the same fryers for pork sausage and fries... Muslims should avoid going there unless Halibut confirms it otherwise.
All I could think when I saw the ladies bathroom was this is excellent for predators. Do not send your girls to the bathroom alone here. It is an L hallway, with the single stall, alone at the end around the corner, and right across from a back exit door. Yes there's a camera & likely alarm, but it feels very isolated. As for food, the fries were good but everything else was rather average. A 200 ml bottle of chocolate milk was $2.79. Service needed a lot of work. No conversation, no real emotion or really acknowledgement from staff, and we needed to ask for everything from our server. Never once did she ask if we needed anything, despite walking by the table several times. Maybe she was very inexperienced? Either way, after a table asks for take out boxes, has piled the plates to the side and are just sitting there, they really shouldn't need to catch the servers attention to ask for the bill. Place was very clean though.
